Lake Placid CANAM Gold Champions
This past weekend the UYMHA U16AA Admirals went undefeated
in the Lake Placid CanAm AA Tournament, bringing home GOLD in their first away
tournament!
First game we faced the North Durham Warriors and won 4-2. Second game we played against the Oakville Rangers and won 2-1. Third game we faced the West Mall Lightning and won 6-1.
After winning all 3 round robin games, we were able to play for the GOLD!! Now on to face the Oakville Rangers again. The game started out very close, but in the third period, our boys came together and battled hard to get 3 goals. WE WON 4-1.
It was an amazing weekend that also included an opening ceremony on the famous 1980 rink. There we got to watch the torch be lit to start off the tournament. Before our first game we were able to journey over to the Olympic Jumping Complex where the boys went to heights to experience the towering structures, where the ski jumpers soar through the air. Some were even lucky enough to go down the Sky Flyer Zip Line, as well as witness some athletes practicing their jumps. Some of our players were chosen to participate in the skills competition and show off their talent.
It was a successful weekend of hockey and team fun.
A big congratulations to all the players and the coaches. Way to go Admirals!
