On
Sunday September 14th, we were able to witness something truly inspiring: the
U12AA team as well as some members of the U12A team traded their skates for
sneakers to take part in the 45th annual Georgina Terry Fox Run. Representing
the Admirals with pride, these boys showed that their strength goes far beyond
the rink.
With hearts full of purpose and legs
powered by grit, most of the team completed the 5km course—while a few
ambitious players pushed themselves to finish the full 10km route. Their
participation wasn’t just about fitness; it was about giving back. Together,
they helped raise funds for cancer research, honoring Terry Fox’s legacy and
proving that every stride counts in the fight for a cure.
Seeing these young athletes out in the community, running alongside families,
friends, and neighbors, was a powerful reminder of what teamwork and compassion
can achieve. Their presence brought energy, hope, and a whole lot of hometown
pride to North Gwillimbury Park.
As Terry once said, “Even if I don’t finish, we need others to continue. It’s
got to keep going without me.” These boys are doing just that—carrying the
torch forward, one step at a time.
