U11AA - Sock-tober Success!
The U11AA Upper York Admirals hockey team has proven that teamwork extends far beyond the ice.

Throughout October, the team took part in “Sock-tober,” a community campaign aimed at collecting new socks for those in need — and their efforts were a resounding success.

With the support of teammates, families, opposing teams and the local community, the Admirals collected over 200 pairs of socks for the East Gwillimbury Food Bank. These socks will be distributed to individuals and families who rely on the food bank’s services as the colder months set in.

The idea behind Sock-tober was to teach the young players that being part of a team also means giving back. Coaches and parents encouraged players to get involved in all parts of the campaign — from spreading the word to collecting donations at Home games.

“We talk a lot about teamwork, effort, and heart,” said the Admirals’ head coach Nathan Moore. “This project showed that our team has all of that off the ice, too. We are so excited about our donations, we know it will make a difference.” As the team continues its season, the Admirals can take pride in knowing their contributions will help keep members of their community warm this winter — a true win for everyone involved.
