Admirals Make a Difference This Holiday Season
This Sunday, the Upper York Admirals U18A team traded their hockey sticks for
shopping carts and volunteer spirit, dedicating the day to giving back to the
community. In the true spirit of the holiday season, the boys came together to
make a meaningful impact for local families and organizations.
The day began with a heartfelt
mission: shopping for two families adopted through the Optimist Club of
Keswick’s Adopt-A-Family program. The team worked together to select gifts and
essentials, ensuring these families will experience the joy and comfort of the
holidays.
Next, the Admirals headed to the Georgina Ice Palace, not for a game, but to
fill the community fridge for the Georgina Community Food Pantry. Their grocery
haul will help provide meals for those in need during this critical time of
year.
The afternoon was spent at the Keswick Christian Church, where the team rolled
up their sleeves to help set up for the Optimist Club of Keswick’s Toy Drive.
Surrounded by toys holiday cheer, the boys showed that teamwork extends far
beyond the rink.
The holiday season is about more than celebration, it’s about compassion,
generosity, and community. The Admirals demonstrated all of these values,
reminding us how important it is to give back, especially now. The efforts of
the U18A players not only brought smiles to families in need but also set an
inspiring example of leadership and kindness.
