EVALUATION PROCESS:

Please arrive at least 45 minutes before the evaluation begins. When you arrive, please go to the UYMHA table to sign in and receive your tryout jersey. THIS JERSEY MUST BE RETURNED AT THE END OF EACH TRYOUT!! It does not go home.

Full protective gear is mandatory, including neck and mouth guards. Players without, or missing equipment will NOT be allowed on the ice.

Your player’s passport number should be listed below. If you are coming from the Upper York U16AA evaluation, your passport number is the same as the one you had there and should be listed below.

There will be a team of independent evaluators assisting me with assessing players. During and after the tryout, please do not approach them as they have a job to do. All decisions about selections/releases will be communicated after each evaluation via this webpage within 3 hours from the end of the session. Passport numbers appearing on the list after this period are the players selected to return to subsequent tryouts. If a passport number is not on the list, the player has been released to the BB team evaluations starting May 11th.

EVALUATION EXPECTATIONS:

I know some players and/or parents may experience anxiety during the evaluation process. However, everyone performs best when feeling relaxed and confident so please work together with your player to focus their thoughts on their key strengths, doing their best, and having fun. No matter what the outcome, hockey is still a game to be enjoyed.

It is also important for parents to help manage players’ expectations because a roster position on this team should never be assumed.

Players will be evaluated based on the following list:

·         Players – skating, body contact, puck handling, passing, shooting, and battling

·         Goalies – reflexes, angles, aggressiveness, and rebound control

·         Intangibles – team play, character /attitude, hockey sense, coachability

TEAM EXPECTATIONS ONCE THE FINAL ROSTER IS SET:

Based on a preliminary budget, the financial commitment from each family is estimated to be $1,500 to $2,000 for the season. As always, sponsorship and fundraising will be important components of the budget and can help to reduce the cost per family. More details will follow at the first parent player meeting tentatively scheduled for Tuesday May 13th.  Further details will be provided once evaluations are complete.

Thank you all, and I look forward to seeing you at the rink!!
