Welcome and Intro
Welcome to the Upper York Admirals U16A team!

My name is Coach Dave and I'm looking forward to a fun and successful season! Here is some general background on me. For more details on the upcoming evaluation sessions, please visit our evaluations list page here: A > U16 A > Tryout List (UPPER YORK MINOR HOCKEY ASSOCIATION)

Hockey has always been a significant part of my life. Starting as a young kid, I progressed through the ranks to play at the AA level and continue to play at least twice a week as an adult. Building on nearly 40 years of playing experience, I have had the privilege of taking on various roles in the sport, including officiating, being a hockey dad, and coaching.

I bring 10 years of coaching experience, primarily at the A and AA levels, within the Newmarket, East Gwillimbury, and Upper York minor hockey associations. Most recently, I have had the honor of serving as the Head Coach for the U14A, U15A, and now U16A Upper York Admirals.

My coaching philosophy centers on the importance of Effort, Attitude and Respect. By embracing these core principles, I believe our team will become a cohesive unit characterized by an honest work ethic, driving constant improvement in every practice and game.

This season, we will focus on team tactics through both on-ice and off-ice training sessions. Players must commit to a comprehensive program that builds on fundamental skills, develops advanced hockey IQ, and includes strength training to better serve our team in a full-contact hockey league.

I strongly believe in the concept of "team." Our success depends on the shared commitment of coaches, team staff, players, and their families. It is imperative that everyone understands what it means to be part of a team and to be a respectful and supportive team member. Our actions, behaviors, and attitudes directly impact our team's success.

It is crucial that we all bring a supportive and positive attitude, a willingness to learn and improve, and our best effort to the rink every day.

Go Admirals!!
